This here is my first official post! I’m gonna put most of this in the “about me” part of the blog, but I don’t think it’s too big a deal if I explain myself a bit. I’m Chuck, and I’m what most bloggers would call a d-bag. (I expect this to be a family oriented blog, so I’ll let you all figure out what the “d” stands for on your own.) That is because most bloggers are women who live in “urban enclaves” and read either blogs or the New York Times. They like organic groceries, protecting the environment, and Leonardo Di Caprio. They say that d-bags are mostly white guys who like classic rock, light beer and tits, and to that I say, guilty as charged! They say that there are plenty of d-bags blogging already — and I agree — but those venerable foot soldiers in the culture wars mostly write about political stuff. I want this blog to proudly list the many, many things in culture, art, and sports that the rest of us like — the true things, the simple pleasures, the real stuff for real people. So I hope you, dear reader, gentle d-bag, will enjoy reading these posts as much as I enjoy writing them. Don’t expect a bunch of literary pyrotechnics, apt metaphors, or perfect spelling and grammar. I’m writing this one from the gut — straight from my gut to the keyboard. So kick back, pop open a cold one, and get ready to enjoy. Welcome!
